A fantastic day to all of you super prospectors and dynamic businesspeople! As we progress through the year, I want to keep encouraging you to stay focused! In life and in this business it seems that there are so many things that can pull your attention away from what you’re trying to accomplish … fight those things on a day by day, hour by hour, and moment by moment basis!

So what should we be focusing on? As most of you have heard before, the things that you focus on tend to ‘expand’—so be careful that you don’t focus on the WRONG things this week. I’ve listed just a few areas that I know are critical and you can add more for yourself:

-Focus on what’s at stake for you in your business this year. What exactly do you want to accomplish? How clearly can you picture this outcome? If the image is still a bit fuzzy you need to spend more time thinking about and outlining where you’re going and the process you’re using to get there.

-Focus on the rewards that you’ll enjoy. It’s no good arriving at a point in the future or a goal that you’ve set if there isn’t something exciting and meaningful about being there. So when you DO hit your objectives this year, how is your life and your family’s life going to be better? What will be possible for you that is NOT possible now?

-Focus on the 3-5 essential tasks that really HAVE to get done today. Let’s face facts … we are great at inventing priorities. The truth is that there are only a handful of things that really NEED to be done to get you to your goals. Stop spending time on creative avoidance and get to work on what you KNOW in your heart of hearts is required to enjoy those rewards you were just focusing on!

-Focus on each individual conversation that you have today. It is super easy to simply go through the motions when we’re prospecting or following up on our leads. The challenge is to actually LISTEN and pay attention to what the person is saying. The more you can identify what their needs and their motivation are, the easier it will be for you to set quality appointments.

-Focus on building productive habits and rituals that will make the successful results you want happen more naturally. What if it didn’t require so much energy to do the ‘right things’ every day? What if you could actually settle into a routine and a schedule and not battle the internal resistance all the time? Habits will allow this to happen—and we all have habits, either good or bad. Where are your current habits taking you?

I know you want to hit your goals this year. I know your life will be better when you accomplish them. I know that there are several things in your business you’d like to have more under control or do a better job with. Your ability to FOCUS ON and follow through on these things is going to determine whether you end the year where you want to. I have all the belief in the world that you can do this ….I just don’t want to believe this more than YOU believe it.

Let’s make the word ‘focus’ your anchor word for the near future–and that future starts with today. Make it count …
